Why, hello friends

Our sweet Buddycakes is nine months old today! I hope to be back to blogging regularly again sometime, but this is just not proving to be the season for that. So for now, I will share a few pictures of Auggie. Isn't that what you came here for anyway? He's had a lot of firsts in these past months.

Auggie and I took our second solo plane trip, this time to Reno for a conference. Auggie's first stay in a casino!

An outing to a little ski village somewhere close to Lake Tahoe. I honestly have no idea where we were.

Hotel room nap. First king-size bed.

This was our sweet guy's first ride in a grocery cart.

He's eaten tons of new foods in these past months. We're doing the baby-led weaning approach, which just means that he eats what we're eating (with a few modifications), chooses what he'll eat, and feeds himself at his own pace. We've spoon-fed him purees a few times, and letting him lead the way is definitely the right way for us. I highly recommend it. So far he loves bananas, avocado, sweet potato and oatmeal best. And his pincer grip is really developing, as he likes to demonstrate by pinching my arms, chest, neck...ouch.

On his eight-month birthday. We'll have to do our 9-month "same bear, same chair" pics today!

Learning all about knitting with some awesome folks at the church's crafting group.

A brief moment of stillness between happy thrashes and splashes.

Out enjoying the sunshine with our Sunday afternoon group. We've had enough gorgeous days to convince me that spring just might really be here.

Eating again.

With some of his buddies at our Alma Midwifery mamas group.

This was right after the very first time Auggie pulled himself up into a standing position on his own during Sunday morning breakfast with our friend, Evan.

Skyping with Gramsy. Michigan is too far away!

Saying hi to Nannie, Emmy and Sadie.

Here we go.

Wooopp.
Hello again.

The Cakes is sleeping in his own bed for most naps now, which is lovely for those of us who need a few daily moments of me-time. Not a single wink of sleep was ever had in the crib, so we passed that along, but having both mattresses on the floor works for now.

Oh, and he's crawling in earnest now! Let the chasing begin.

Loved the update!! Those thighs and cheeks are too much...I have to meet this boy of yours! :)

Excited to hear your experience with baby-led weaning, I didn't know about it until we were past "that time" with Ezra, but interested in trying it with baby #2.

I agree, mattresses on the ground are totally the way to go!!

I feel like I had way more to comment on, but my mind is blanking...it is probably time for me to go to bed.

So glad to see all is well!!
